We spent our first two nights in Brussels due to flight cancellations. Europe celebrates a national strike day and this was the first time in 20 years that the Brussels Airport had to cancel all departing flights.

We were fortunate to have very kind and helpful Brussels Airlines’ employees who rebooked our flights and gave us hotel vouchers. We secured 9 of the remaining 11 seats available on the last flight to Entebbe before the Brussels Airlines’ pilot and cabin crew strike begins this Thursday and runs through Saturday. We plan to get to the airport 4 hours before our 10:35 am departure today to manage the assumed airport chaos.

I’m already loving this laid back team who managed to turn stress and disappointment into fun and adventure. We toured the city and sights, and we ate Belgium fries, Belgium waffles, and Belgium chocolate. Some even tried Sole meunière, shrimp croquettes, and rabbit. Many laughs were had, but we are eager to reach The Pearl of Africa.
